Pride Lyrics

I read P-R-I-D-E on the bulletin board first day of my sophomore year
Eastpak on my shoulder, Nikes on my feet
Draggin' slack I was bustin' in my baggy jeans
I thought whatever and I rolled my eyes
Went struttin' down the hall to give my boys high fives
The friends I made back then are my real friends now
I still see 'em when we go hang out in town
Down the road from the halls we came of age in, now I get itChorus: Pride was a capital letter on my baseball cap
It's what held us together around this dot on the map
Now it's the color that I bleed and the stitches in my shoes and my jacket match
PrideI read P-R-I-D-E on the cheerleaders sign on the field on a Friday night
I wudn't on the team, I wudn't in the band
Just another 12th man up in the stands
Flying off my feet when the home team scored
Laughin' at the visitors pointin' at the scoreboard
Sure I got carried away but I didn't mean harm
Just a fan of where I was from
The stadium lights shine bright on us all, win, lose, or drawChorus: Pride was a capital letter on my baseball cap

It's what held us together around this dot on the map
Now it's the color I bleed and the stitches in my shoes and my jacket match, yeah
PrideI was a country boy but I wudn't a redneck
A solid B student on the college prep track
I had ambition, plans of moving on
But I graduated college then I came back home
Because the trees grow strong when their roots run deep
And this town's the only place I can soundly sleep
P-R-I-D-E's in my heart and soul
It's something I want my children to know
So I keep believing, no plans on leaving
Even if we have a losing seasonChorus: Pride is a capital letter on my baseball cap
It's what holds us together around this dot on the map
Now it's the color that I bleed and the stitches in my stitches in my stitches in my stitches in my
Pride is a capitol letter
It's what holds us together
It's the color I bleed and the stitches in my shoes and my jacket match
Pride
Pride
Yeah we got Pride
Yeah we got Pride

For Corey Smith, one of the best things about making music has always been getting the chance to hang out and have a good time with his friends. And it’s still that way, nearly 10 years after his early days of playing the bars around Athens, Georgia. The big difference now? Well, it seems these days Corey just has a lot more friends to hang with. The crowds at his sold-out live performances frequently number in the thousands—quite a change from the times when he never dreamed of much beyond playing for a handful of his college buddies.
