Together Lyrics

The Lord works in a strange way
There ain't no doubt
Man, He's gonna make a man of me
He's gonna straighten me out somehow
Was 27 years old that summer
Just having myself a ball
Working on a record deal
Playing the bars and the concert halls
Making money to just watch it burn
Living day by day
Stayed out late drinking way too much
I didn't act my age
But life turned on a dime
When she said, "You're gonna be a daddy, come winter time"
The Lord works in a strange way
There ain't no doubt

Man, He's gonna make a man of me
He's gonna straighten me out somehow
The Lord works in a strange way
Heaven knows
He's planning on a miracle
Man, I wonder how it's gonna go
The Lord works in a strange way
Man, I never saw the changes coming
They caught me unaware
One day I was wild as a buck
The next I was a teddy bear
Put down the bottle 'bout month before
And I put down the cigarettes
Started holding my wife a little tighter
And saying the prayers I used to forget
Now I look into those baby blue eyes
And I find all the peace I've been searching for
Yeah I finally realized
The Lord works in a strange way
There ain't no doubt
Man, He's gonna make a man of me
He's gonna straighten me out somehow
The Lord works in a strange way
And it stirs my soul
I'm holding on to a miracle
And I ain't ever letting go
The Lord works in a strange way
I finally made my peace with God
I've got sweet comfort in my soul
The Lord works in a strange way
Man, He's gonna make a man of me
A man of me
Oh, the Lord works in a strange way

For Corey Smith, one of the best things about making music has always been getting the chance to hang out and have a good time with his friends. And it’s still that way, nearly 10 years after his early days of playing the bars around Athens, Georgia. The big difference now? Well, it seems these days Corey just has a lot more friends to hang with. The crowds at his sold-out live performances frequently number in the thousands—quite a change from the times when he never dreamed of much beyond playing for a handful of his college buddies.
