Quiet Inner Storm - Mats-Up

Composed by some of the finest young musicians in Switzerland, «mats-up» is a septet that explores the broad sonic landscape of a large ensemble with the flexibility and vitality of a jazz combo.

The repertoire consists of an all original material blending the various influences: passages inspired by the European classical heritage, rhythmics, patterns and interactions from the Afro-american tradition, collective improvisations with or without a canvas. Written by the leader Matthias Spillmann, the music features the strong personalities of the players within the cohesive sound of the «mats-up».

Finally the special chemistry between those long-time friends collaborating as «mats-up» since 1999, contributes to create a unique spiritual unity within this group considered as «a must for everyone who wants to know how positive the Swiss Jazz scene is developing» (Jazz’n’More)

Matthias Spillmann is the head and the musical director of the whole project.Bernhard Bamert is the most sought-after trombonist in Switzerland and you can hear his playing on over 30 records. Dominic Egli as he secret Musical Director of Mats-Up. Domenic Landolf has built his reputation as one of the most original Sax and Clarinet players in the country. Leo Tardin enriches the band both as a creative accompanist and as a fearless soloist. Patrice Moret works with Mats-Up since 2004.
