Ready for the Blues Lyrics

People like to talk about down home blues
Well home is where the heart is if you want to know the truth
There is blues in county, blues in the city too
You can try to relocate, but the blues will get around to you
Lots of folks are running from the future or the past
But you can’t out run the blues, baby blues were built to last
There was blues yesterday, there’ll be blues tomorrow too
You can but you can’t hide, the blues will get around to you
Are you ready for the blues?
Are you ready for the blues?
No matter what you do
The blues will get around to you
If you’re feeling really low and you think you want to cry
If everything’s beautiful and you’re on a natural high
If you’re black, white or yellow; Red, young or old

The blues one day will grab you and satisfy your soul
Are you ready for the blues?
Are you ready for the blues?
No matter what you do
The blues will get around to you

Raised in the South Bronx, New York, Michael's early exposure to music included Harry Belafonte, Jackie Wilson, Johnny Ace, Elvis Presley and many other 78's and later 45's from his father Rufus' record collection. His mother Eunice and grandmother Lucia both sang and played the piano at home as well, and Michael briefly took piano lessons at age seven and sang in school glee clubs and the church choir as he grew up.
