Resting Place Lyrics

Heavenly Father, here I am
It is me once again
Lord, it don't feel good in the cold
Outside looking in
I need shelter from the rain
'Cause it's bringing too much pain
Won't you please take my hand
Lord, I know you will understand
If you show me the way, I will be OK
Yes, I will
Lord, you're my resting place
[Chorus:]
Lord, you are my resting place
My rock
My sword
All fears erased
I find in you security

I seek your face, my resting place
Lord, I been searchin' high and low for some rest for my weary soul
Traveled far across this land
Even gone through desert sands
Trying to find some relief, searchin' for inner peace
Oh, gotta find it
If you show me the way, I will be OK
Yes, I will
Lord, you're my resting place
[Chorus]
Oh, Lord, I'll be right here waiting for your love
Show me the way
You're my resting place
[Chorus]

Misty Edwards is an active leader at the International House Of Prayer (IHOP) in Kansas City, Missouri, a ministry launched by Mike Bickle, former pastor of Metro Christian Fellowship.

Misty's musical work stands alone as excellent worship music in and of itself, but much can be gleaned from understanding the dynamics of the context in which the songs are formed: 24/7 prayer, worship, and fasting. IHOP-KC has held live worship non-stop, without closing the doors, since September 19th, 1999.

Much of Misty's music springs spontaneously from two-hour prayer and worship sessions called 'Worship with the Word' or intercession sets. Intercession sets typically consist of short fifteen-minute segments of contemporary worship music, followed by someone praying at a special microphone set up at the front of the room. The singers will begin to sing-prophesy along with the prayers, and the music will build and release in unison with the prayers offered.

According to Mike Bickle, she was spending so much time in the prayer room that he finally got concerned about it and urged her to get out and "go see a movie or something." Read more on Last.fm.
