Rock and Roll Music to the World Lyrics

Well, we come from down in Texoma
So let me stand up and say
We like Willie Nelson, JJ Cale, Chet Baker
God bless Stevie Ray, Okemah to Stillwater
Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Austin up to Dallas, too
Houston, San Antone, anywhere that we roam
Hey, this is what we like to doPlay some rock and roll music to the world
Rock and roll music to the world
Ain't no relation to the united nations
Just rock and rollin' to the world
Get up and dance, give peace a chance
And I say rock and roll music to the worldI want to scream, I want to shout
Take all my emotions, work 'em all right out
I say, yeah, that's what I did
Don't need to fight, have fun tonight
And I say rock and roll music to the worldPlayin' rock and roll music to the world
Rock and roll music to the world
Well, it may sound funny but I ain't got no money

I just keep rockin' to the world
Just turn me loose turn up the juice
And i'll play rock and roll music to the worldI tell the truth, I ain't no star
I just sit back and leave the rest to my guitarSingin' rock and roll music to the world
Rock and roll music to the world
It ain't no relation to the united nations
Keep rock and rollin' to the world
No need to fight, have fun tonight
And I say rock and roll music to the world

Jimmy LaFave was born on July 12, 1955 in Wills Point, Texas, a small town 30 miles east of Dallas. He began school down the road in Mesquite and by Junior High was making music perched behind his Sears & Roebuck drum kit. It was in this landscape that he began to define his sound and soak up a combination of his experiences among authentic songwriters from the tradition of Woody Guthrie. Before leaving Oklahoma for Austin, Jimmy did some independent recording and toured the southwest with the first version of his band Night Tribe.
