Formed October 2012, A Brood of Vipers is an experimental blues punk band from Philadelphia. It was founded by Eric Bower, formerly of The Strychnine Babies and Roger Segal, of Sorry and the Sinatras and Trashlight Vision. With progressive arrangements of vintage key tones mixed with 70's punk and blues style guitar, the music contains sonic elements ranging anywhere from The Crazy World of Arthur Brown to early Misfits.

The idea of the band started as an experiment for Bower influenced by his interests in silent horror films and garage music in the likes of Roky Erickson and The Stooges. Segal (Bass/Vocals), frustrated with past experiences in the music industry, saw the new project as the perfect outlet. Recognizing it as an opportunity to re-kindle his passion for music, he decided to collaborate with Bower. With plans of obtaining a more dynamic sound with a new flavor, the two set out to find seasoned players with diverse musical backgrounds. After months of auditioning, they brought in Multi-instrumentalist, Tom Scheponik (Gringo Motel / Mercury Radio Theatre) to play organ, followed later by Larry The Kid (Dead Spot / Percocettes) on drums. Baring roots of everything from Eastern European to Spaghetti Western music, Scheponik added some of the key components that craft the band's dark and textured sound. With The Kid's hard hitting rhythms bringing it all up front, the result is a thought provoking, impressionistic band with hints of 60's psychedelia. Undeniably rock, yet open for interpretation.

On May 29, 2013 they released a self-titled EP on their own label Electric Nerve Music. June 1 of the same year, they played their debut show at the M-Room in Philadelphia. Since, they have played various shows in the Philadelphia and New York area including a one off show with 80's punk bands Kraut and Channel 3. The band will be working on a new studio album in December of 2013 with plans of a spring 2014 release. Read more on Last.fm.
