Salt Pillar (2009) Lyrics

SALT PILLAR Tom Trimble
1.
The Angel said to hurry, the Lord will judge our city. There’s safety in the mountains. So let’s head for higher ground.
Darlin’ let’s run hand-in-hand, we cannot look behind us.
Then all at once it happened and I knew she had turned around.
Chorus:
Seemed I heard her saying run on, (run on) There’s nothing left behind you.
I almost heard her whisper Be Strong, (Be Strong). Don’t ever slow down (Don’t ever slow down) Its ringing in my ears, her silent testimony.
Whoa, Salt Pillar I’ll never turn around.
2.
Down through the years since I started walking, some friends have come and gone. I don’t know why some changed their minds. But in my memory, I see the monuments to failure. And I know if I would listen, I could hear them testifying.
Chorus:
I can hear them saying run on, (run on) There’s nothing left behind you. Those old friends was shouting Be Strong, (Be Strong) Don’t ever slow down (Don’t ever slow down) Its ringing in my ears, oh their silent testimony.
Whoa Salt Pillar I’ll never turn around.
3.
As I look ahead, I can see a host of people. There’s a great cloud of witnesses and they’ve already won the race. While I’m down here running slow. I can hear their songs of victory and I know that I can make it as I began to pick up the pace.
Chorus:
I can hear them singing run on, (run on) There’s nothing left behind you. All the saint’s are shouting Be Strong, (Be Strong) Don’t ever slow down (Don’t ever slow down) It’s ringing in my ears, (I hear it ringing in my ears) Oh their silent testimony. Whoa. Salt Pillar I’ll never turn around. (I’ll never turn around)

Whoa. Salt Pillar I’m still heaven bound. Going to see his face.
