Shelter - The Virtual Penguins

On My Bat's Birthday, The Virtual Penguins continue their journey into strange yet oddly familiar musical landscapes. "The Fear We Know," "Redemption Rain," and the title track let you think for a moment that this might be a conventional alternative rock album, but other songs -- including "Wilde Beast," "Jungle," and "Shelter" will surprise you. Once again the Penguins employ their spare sonic landscape and brooding lyrics to create a moody effect, calling to mind artists such as Brian Eno, Daniel Lanois, or even early R.
