Simple Man Lyrics

You can take a boy out of the filth
but that don't make him clean
You could make my life easier, baby
but that don't make it any less I've seen
Just cause your acting so nice
don't mean you'll get a thing from me
Don't throw your pennies in the wishing well
cause what you get is what you see
[Chorus]
Lord I'm a SIMPLE MAN
Ain't too much I need
I ain't asking for all of your love
give me what you can and set me free
[Solo 1]

Your scream and crying all night long
Lord your killing me
I never meant to put you down
I never gave you any reason to grieve
Sometimes when I feel so boxed in
I want to go and take a ride
Grab the keys and my cigarettes
and disapear into the night
[Chorus]
Lord I'm a SIMPLE MAN
ain't too much I need
I ain't asking for all of your love
Give me what you can and set me free
Ahh, C'mon and set me free
[Solo 2]
You can lead this old horse to a bar
and you can buy me a drink
you can lead me just 'bout anywhere
Sometimes I'm just too tired to think
Never took anything from you
that I couldn't return twice
Now I understand why I never listen to my own advice
[Chorus]
Lord I'm a SIMPLE MAN
Ain't too much I need
I ain't asking for all of your love
Give me what you can and set me free
I ain't asking for all your love
I ain't asking for all your love
I ain't asking for all of your love
Give what you can and set me free

There is more than one artist with this name: 1) A gritty, heavily tattooed outfit that infused elements of southern rock and blues into their brand of L.A. sleaze metal. Their no-frills brand of rock'n'roll, where the music mattered more then the image, should have made them household names, but they failed to have much in the way of commercial success.
Formed in Los Angeles by a couple of transplanted Texans in David Roach (vocals) and Chris Gates (guitar, ex-Big Boys).
