Slip Away Lyrics

Locked inside my mind, passing time
With nothing to lose
Tryna to find a reason to fight
With nothing to proveI've been waiting for the light to glow
Waiting for the love to show
Waiting for youI'm just laying in the fading light
Waiting for the chance to strike
Waiting for you
But, it's never right
It's never good enough for you]
Can't speak my mind
'Cause you don't wanna hear the truth
You only tell me,
What you want me to say
You've made your point but I can do this myselfHow could you do this to me?
It's getting harder to breathe
Can't hold me down, can't drown me out
Cause I'll slip away slowly The closer you hold meTemporary moments to fight Distorting the view

Visions of this chasing you hide
But something into
Whenever things been done before
You're still knocking at my door,
begging for more
When you spilling me another line
Thinking on take them blind Is that all I'm for? But, it's never right
It's never good enough for you
Can't speak my mind
'Cause you don't wanna hear the truth
You only tell me,
What you want me to say
You've made your point but I can do this myselfHow could you do this to me?
It's getting harder to breathe
Can't hold me down, can't drown me out
'Cause I'll slip away slowly
The closer you hold me
How could you do this to me?
It's getting harder to breathe
Can't hold me down, can't drown me out
'Cause I'll slip away slowly
The closer you hold meHow could you do this to me?
It's getting harder to breathe
Can't hold me down, can't drown me out
'Cause I'll slip away slowly
The closer you hold me
How could you do this to me?
It's getting harder to breathe
Can't hold me down, can't drown me out
'Cause I'll slip away slowly
The closer you hold me

Gabrielle Aplin is the whipsmart teenage sensation with spirit in her voice and ability to bottle melodic lightning who, at 14, wrote her first song, Ghosts. At 17, she made it the title track of her first EP. At the same age, she set up her own label, Never Fade Records. Soon she had landed herself a booking agent and was plotting her own tours round the UK. By 18 she had released two further EPs and was running a profit making DIY artist’s enterprise – with plans already afoot to plough those profits back into other similarly inclined musicians she’d encountered along the way.
