Solitary (Allegro con spirito) Lyrics

Set me aflame and cast me free
Away, you wretched world of tethers
Through the endless night and day
I have never wanted more
Always thought that I would stand
Before the faceless name of justice
Like some law unto myself
Like a child of God againAnd if rain brings winds of change
Let it rain on us forever
I have no doubt from what I've seen
That I have never wanted more
With this line I'll mark the past
As a symbol of beginning
I have no doubt from what I've seen
I have never wanted more
In this picture stands a man
Far away, alone and distant
Like a solitary field

In some nameless foreign land
All around him points of light
Start to dim and cease transmitting
Shadows fell on futile games
And then there was nothing more
Through the screams of falling steel
By the light of flares and wisdom
All the doubts I could not face
All this time I wanted more
With a line I mark the past
As a symbol of beginning
To the Gods whose names we've lost
And the names who gave in vain
And if rain brings winds of change
Let it rain on us forever
I have no doubt from what I've seen
I have never wanted more
With this line I'll mark the past
As a symbol of beginning
I have no doubt from what I've seen
I have never wanted moreSet me aflame and cast me free
Away, you wretched world of tethers
Through the endless night and day
I have never wanted more
Always thought that I would stand
Before the faceless name of justice
Like some law unto myself
Like a child of God againAnd if rain brings winds of change
Let it rain on us forever
I have no doubt from what I've seen
I have never wanted more
With this line I'll mark the past
As a symbol of beginning
I have no doubt from what I've seen
I have never wanted moreSever the line to the guilty past
To the ones who brought us nothing
Spoke of futures brave and proud
And brought only hate and war
Line the roads with hollow praise
Mark the land with paper statues
Shadows fell on their futile ways
And then there was nothing more

Resonance marks the most prestigious moment so far in VNV Nation's career. Years in the planning, the album features many of the best known VNV Nation songs, performed purely with Orchestra and Voice. No other studio instruments were used as the goal was for the release to be as authentic as possible.

Having taken much inspiration from Classical Music for their own songs, this is the album that VNV Nation have always wanted to make. The album was recorded with the world renowned Babelsberg Film Orchestra at their historic studios in Potsdam, Germany, right next to the stage where legendary films like Fritz Lang's "Metropolis" were filmed.

Only the best studios were used for the recording, mixing and mastering. The results speak for themselves and can only be described as majestic. This is a soundtrack to a film that has yet to be made.

It's been many years in the planning but, we're very happy to announce the new VNV Nation album "Resonance". The album features a collection of songs, from various VNV Nation albums, arranged purely for voice and orchestra, that were recorded with the world renowned Babelsberg Film Orchestra, at their studios outside Berlin. This has undoubtedly been the largest and most complicated production yet for a VNV release, but the results are breathtaking. The album will be released on May 15th in a number of different formats - for a limited time, it'll be available in a special CD-Digibook format, and then as a regular CD-digipack. It'll also be available as a deluxe limited edition boxset that contains 6 x 10inch vinyl discs, a CD of the album and a 32 page book, in a hardcover box with gold print. Announcing this album is the news we'd always hoped to be able to write here one day. Read more on Last.fm.
