Sons Lyrics

We don't know this place
this wasted stretch of land
and these steaming horizons
it's locked in our past
it's strangely so familiar
it's a scar on our memory
no sign of the ancient heroes
who gave us this one last hour
it's so still; and so few of us here
there's no sound here at all
last light disappears
the Sons of decay
the ones left to stay
the Sons of decay
the ones left to stayFor years we were lost
we slept; the system stored us
and sealed in our orders
we woke up alone

in this silence and in space
as if nothing had happened
no sign of the ancient heroes
who left us this one long hour
it's so still, so few of us here
love, I'm feeling so small, all night
just waiting here
we're the Sons of decay
the ones left to stay
the Sons of decay
the ones left to stay
ohohohhh
[Instrumental Break]
it's so still, there's so few of us here
now, I'm feeling so small, all night
just waiting here
with the Sons of decay
the ones left to stay
the Sons of decay
the ones left to stay
the Sons of decay
the ones left to stay
the Sons of decay
the ones left to stay
the Sons of decay
the Sons of decay

Australian new wave band Icehouse was formed in 1977, initially called 'Flowers', by Iva Davies (born Ivor Arthur Davies, on 22 May 1955, in Wauchope, New South Wales, Australia). Inspired by art rock and avant-garde pop, Davies was the main creative force behind the band, being a classically trained musician. Band member Keith Welsh joined him on bass. For a number of years they also obtained the services of Bob Kretschmer, until he was replaced by young guitarist Paul Gildea.
