Soultime Lyrics

When I was a boy I never felt the weight I'm feeling
I had a crowd around me and that was that
I'd get on the bus and go to the ATA every weekend
And feel the ultraviolet show the fluff up on my collarThey'd play Otis Redding, Sam
And Dave and Wilson Picket
Prince Buster, The Skatalites
And bees would be buzzing their horns
The boys would dance like robots
The girls would walk a fashionable slinkNow here we are one or two scars
Trying to recall the way it was
But now I know where I am coming from
Soultime, I'm in soultimeWe never tried to change the world, it didn't need changing
We were the in crowd,oh, and that was that
Graduating from a Lambretta to a Triumph Herald car
Was the only future in site,oh, and that was thatOne night there was a rumble and I got head butted, yeah
But those boys could not take that girl away from me
I took a handkerchief and wiped the blood away from my nose
And got right back on the dance floor and that was thatNow here we are one or two scars

Trying to recall the way it was
But now I know where I am coming from
Soultime, I'm in soultime
Soultime, oh, yeah, oh, yeahSoultime, oh, yeah

Graham Parker (born November 18, 1950 in London) is a British rock singer and songwriter. He continues to be best-known as the leader (and singer) of the popular British band Graham Parker & The Rumour, though he has has a number of solo albums to his name. Despite moderate commercial success, he has consistently been hailed by critics as one the most prominent musicians of his generation, with his wittily-heated, often class-conscious lyrics and energy-fueled music preceding the arrival punk rock and new wave music.
