Splinters Lyrics

Count their names now one by one
The first is the last to leave
And winter seemed so far away
If only I believedFamiliar rooms have left no trace
Empty walls where people stare
If only I could change the day
My spirit walks upon the airAcross this space that lies between us
I raise my hands
Against the glass in splinters red and white
And in this place that lies between us
I understand
To break the glass in splinters red and whiteWe play in mirrors
Dance like shadows
Until the end we kiss the rain
The wedding song that plays for no one
Fallen they will shine again
I can feel the heat and flesh
I can see the closing hand

And still you fall inside my sleep
We spiral like a drowning manAcross this space that lies between us
I raise my hands
Against the glass in splinters red and white
And in this place that lies between us
I understand
To break the glass in splinters red and whiteCount their names now one by one
The first is the last to leave
And winter seemed so far away
If only I believedFamiliar rooms have left no trace
Empty walls where people stare
If only I could change the day
My spirit walks upon the airAcross this space that lies between us
I raise my hands
Against the glass in splinters red and white
And in this place that lies between us
I understand
To break the glass in splinters red and white

Monocular is a German electro duo, comprised of Jan and Nic Koray, tempers Trip Hop into soothing soundscapes and morphs ambient noise into morbidly mellow synth pop. The enveloping darkness of their synthetic musicality is balanced with a storytale sweetness in their songwriting. At times they sound like a suicidal Brian Molko and at times like they could share a stage with the Bird and the Bee. Others have compared them to Bjorkish Alphaville.
