Stay Up Late Lyrics

Mommy had a little baby
There he is fast asleep
He's just a little play thing
Why not wake him up?Cute, cute, little baby
Little fee-feet, little toes
Now he's comin' to me
Crawl across the kitchen floorBaby, baby, please let me hold him
I wanna make him stay up all night
Sister, sister, he's just a play thing
We wanna make him stay up all night, yeah we doSee him drink from a bottle
See him eat from a plate
Cute, cute as a button
Don't you wanna make him stay up lateAnd we're having fun with no money
Little smile on his face
Don't you love the little baby
Don't you want to make him stay up lateBaby, baby, please let me hold him
I wanna make him stay up all night
Sister, sister, he's just a play thing

We wanna make him stay up all nightHere we go
(All night long)
Sister, sister
(All night long)
In the playpen
(All night long)
Little baby goes
(All night long)
I know you wanna leave meWhy don't we pretend?
There you go, little man
Cute, cute, why not?
Late at night, wake him upBaby, baby, please let me hold him
I wanna make him stay up all night
Sister, sister, he's just a play thing
We wanna make him stay up all nightHere we go
(All night long )
Sister, sister
(With the television on)
Little baby goes
(All night long)
Hey, hey, baby
(All night long)
And he looks so cute
(All night long)
In his little red suit
(All night long)All night long
All night long
All night long
All night long

Heidi Newfield (born October 4, 1970 in Healdsburg, California) is an American country music artist. She served as lead vocalist, guitarist and harmonica player for the country music group Trick Pony (alongside Keith Burns and Ira Dean) from 1996 until 2006, when she left in pursuit of a solo career. Aubrey Collins succeeded her as the group's lead vocalist until her own departure in 2008, the same year that Trick Pony disbanded.

Newfield's first work outside of Trick Pony was as a guest vocalist on Cledus T. Judd's cover of the Ray Stevens song "Gitarzan", featured on Judd's 2007 album Boogity, Boogity - A Tribute to the Comedic Genius of Ray Stevens. Later in 2007, Newfield began recording her solo studio album for Asylum-Curb Records, the same label to which Trick Pony was signed from 2004 to 2008. Entitled What Am I Waiting For, the album was released in August 2008. Its lead-off single, "Johnny & June", has entered Top 25 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts.

Songfacts reports that Newfield signed with Sidewalk Records in April 2012. Her first single after signing with the label was "Why'd You Have to Be So Good."
