Stormy Monday (medley) Lyrics

They called it stormy Monday
And Tuesday's just as bad
They called it stormy Monday
Tuesday's just as badWednesday's the worst
And Thursday's also sadWell, the eagle flies on Friday
And Saturday I go out and play
Don't you know that the eagle flies on Friday
And Saturday I go out and playSunday I'll go to church
Then I'll kneel down on my knees and I'll pray
Oh Lord, help meLord, have mercy
Lord, have mercy on me
Lord, have mercy, Lord, have mercy
Lord, have mercy on meSaid I done searched the whole world over
And I can't find my lover nowhere
Oh LordSaid I cried, Lord have mercy
Lord have mercy on me
Said I cried, Lord have mercy
Lord have mercy on meSend my baby back

Or I will live in misery
Oh Lord, hey, hey

James Carroll Booker III (December 17, 1939 – November 8, 1983) was a New Orleans rhythm and blues pianist, organ player and singer, born in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. Booker's unique style combined rhythm and blues with jazz standards. Musician Dr. John described Booker as “the best black, gay, one-eyed junkie piano genius New Orleans has ever produced.” Booker was the son and grandson of Baptist ministers, both of whom played the piano. He spent most of his childhood on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where his father pastored a church.
