A highly respected jazz clarinetist based out of New Orleans, Dr. Michael White's playing pays tribute to the city's dixieland heritage and predecessors like Sidney Bechet. White is a professor at Xavier University where he teaches African-American Music and holds an endowed chair in the humanities department. He is in his early 50's and began his musical career in his late teens, blowing with veteran trumpeter Doc Paulin's Brass Band.
