Swallow My Pride Lyrics

She looked at me with dignity, said
"Baby there's one thing you've gotta see
Even though we're headed for war
This nation's prouder than ever before
Yes, there's a sprit in the air
We're more American than anywhere."
Well, I just smiled 'cause I could tell
This little girl's going to hell
All the warmth in her heart can't keep
My blood from running cold
First I fell for her looks
Now I just want to go for the throat
I tried to tell her a hundred times
This little girl didn't understand at all
Pride comes before a fall

Now I wouldn't mind if you swallow my pride
Make me feel all right, deep inside
Feel all right
Pride comes before a fall
This ain't the summer of love (4x)
I don't know what you're thinking of
This ain't the summer of love
This ain't the garden of Eden
There ain't no angels above
Things ain't what they used to be
This ain't the summer of love
This ain't the garden of Eden
There ain't no angels above
Things ain't what they used to be
This ain't the summer of love
This ain't the summer of fun

Green River is an influential Seattle grunge band, named after the Green River Killer (not the CCR album, as is a common misunderstanding). They are considered one of the first grunge bands, forming in 1984 from... Seattle, Washington. Green River had little impact outside of Seattle, but their influence within Seattle's music scene would eventually be felt around the world. Their influence reached to both of their contemporaries (Soundgarden, The Melvins) and later Seattle bands (Nirvana, Alice in Chains) sharing the sub pop label.
