Sweet Sugar Lyrics

(over importance of money)I've no time for boring things
There's no religion
That can make my heart sing, no
They call me up
Say: hey come on down
We've got credit salvation
All over townAnd I can see it everywhere I go
I can hear it on my radio
They keep telling me it's alright
But there's one thing
I don't need tonightIs their sweet sugar, poison wine
I don't need these things
To make me feel fine
Sweet sugar, poison wine
Just need your love girl, every timeWe don't need these
Pointless things
We just need to mend
Our broken wings

Take a look, a look
What's going down
We've gotta stop
Before we hit the groundYeah, we can have it
Don't you know
Take part in their tv show
They'll keep telling us it's alright
But there's one thing
I don't need tonightYou can't fool me
It's a waste of time
You're selling tears
Down the credit card line, yeah
But giving up is not
Their frame of mind
They'll find a way
To break us in timeYeah, I can meet you
Everywhere I go
And I can hear you on my radio
You keep telling me it's alright
But there's one thing
I don't need tonightIs your sweet sugar, poison wine
I don't need these things
To make me feel fine
Sweet sugar, poison wine
I just need your love girl, every timeSweet sugar, poison wine
I don't need these things
To make me feel fine
Sweet sugar, poison wine
Just gimme your love girl
Gimme your love, gimme your loveSweet sugar, poison wine
I need your love girl
Yeah, all the time
Sweet sugar, poison wine
I just need you girl, everytime

Uriah Heep is a British rock band, officially formed in 1969 in London, England, when record producer Gerry Bron invited keyboardist Ken Hensley (previously a member of The Gods and Toe Fat) to join Spice, members of whom included soon-to-become Heep stalwarts David Byron (vocals) and Mick Box (guitar). The band rapidly grew to become a seminal classic hard rock act of the 1970s and beyond. Their distinctive progressive/art rock/heavy metal fusion has always featured a massive keyboards sound, strong vocal harmonies and (in the early years) David Byron's operatic vocals.

Sometimes jokingly referred to as "The Beach Boys of heavy metal" for their melodic songs, and trademark multi-part harmony backing vocals, although their music draws on diverse influences including psychedelia, gothic sound, progressive rock, hard rock, early heavy metal, jazz, and even country on occasion.

Uriah Heep remains active, its lineup staying steady from 1986 to 2007, when drummer Lee Kerslake left for health reasons, and was replaced by Russell Gilbrook. The current lineup is: Mick Box (guitar, vocals), Trevor Bolder (bass, vocals), Phil Lanzon (keyboards, vocals), Bernie Shaw (lead vocals), and Russell Gilbrook (drums, vocals).
