Tamigi - Cathode Rays

Cathode Rays is an American 8-bit/Chiptune band formed by Rob Lynch. Rob began making electronic music in high school and as his technique improved, he was able to acccurately recreate the 8-bit sounds of his childhood. In 2006, he released an album created entirely with NES Emulators under the pseudonym, Two Sheds. Rob is unique in his approach to 8-bit music in that he performs using a SNES controller on which he has mapped the individual notes of the song to the individual buttons, turning the controller into a musical instrument.

In the years since, Rob has been expanding his musical style to incorporate a wider range of instruments and sounds, while still keeping it 8-bit at the core. Avi Paul Weinstein joined Cathode Rays in 2009 to perform the live guitar parts and was followed by Kedaar Kumar on live drums in 2010. In this formation the trio have been playing around the Boston area as part of Oxytocin and Boston8Bit. Their style can best be described as: "Nintendo music at 6 AM on a saturday morning.
