That Kinda Girl Lyrics

The other night I met a girl, and she looked to be so nice
I asked her for the digits, and she didn't think twice
A couple of days later called her up and asked her out
She said,"With you?" I said, "With me"And then she said, "Without a doubt
I took her to the garden where
I guess they grow the olives
She wore a tighter skirt than any I had seen in collegeShe said, "I love to smoke and drink, while cursing like a sailor"
I asked her where she got her mouth, and if she had a tailor
Finally I walked her to the door to say goodnight
She said,"I am an apple, would you care to take a bite?"Politely I refused and said,
"I'm looking for a lady"
So she slapped me in my face and said
"Boy, you must be crazy"Different from the ones before
Different from the ones before, she's that kinda girl
Different from the ones before
'Cause I know she loves the LordShe's that kinda girl
Virtuous in every way
Kinda girl that makes you say

"I hope she comes my wayWell I'm lookin' for a girl who virtuous
'Cause God laid it on my heart to search for this
So I open up The Word to the Book of Proverbs
The 31st Chapter tells me all about herCharm is deceitful and beauty is vain
A woman who fears the lord, she ain't playin'
Hear what I'm sayin', 'cause I'm sayin' it clearly
She's the kinda girl I got to have near meShe's that kinda girl, different from the ones before
'Cause I know she loves the lord
She's that kinda girl, virtuous in every way
The kinda girl that makes you sayWell I'm lookin' into hookin' with a lady
And not a girly of the worl'y that's shady
But the kinda girl you meet, behind the doors of a church
Ya see, God will bring her to me, so I don't have to searchToo hard I've been scarred by the ones of the past
So put an APB out on the one that will last
A little longer than a roll in the hay for sure
But a bona fide lady's what I'm prayin' forWhen I finally meet her, I'll know how to treat her
By fulfilling all her needs
Love her and respect her, cherish her forever
She's the kinda girl for meShe's that kinda girl
Different from the ones before
'Cause I know she loves the Lord
She's that kinda girlPerfect for each other
There'll never be another for meShe's that kinda girl, virtuous in every way
The kinda girl that makes you say
"I hope she comes my wayHeaven help me, hear my plea
I know there's one who's perfect for meWhen I finally meet her, I'll know how to treat her
By fulfilling all her needs
Love her and respect her, cherish her forever
She's the kinda girl for meShe' the kinda girl for me, the kinda girl for me
She' the kinda girl for me
She' the kinda girl for me, the kinda girl for me
She' the kinda girl for me, I pray she come's my wayShe's that kinda girl
Different from the ones before
'Cause I know she loves the Lord
She's that kinda girl, virtuous in every way
The kinda girl that makes you sayShe's that kinda girl
(Ya, know what I'm saying)
Different from the ones before
She's the one that I adoreShe's that kinda girl
(Hey, the girly ain't playin')
Virtuous in every way
The kinda girl that makes you say
I hope she comes my way

dc Talk is made up of Toby McKeehan (TobyMac), Michael Tait, and Kevin Max.

The three met while they were young men at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. They formed the band dc Talk (a reference to Washington D.C., but later marketed as 'decent Christian talk' by their label) and, as of the year 2000, spent twelve solid years together, performing all over the world, recording 6 albums, and earning many awards, including 4 Grammy awards.

Their music, aimed at a younger audience, combined hip-hop, rap, and R&B sensibilities and filled a gap in 1980s Christian Music and gave them a unique niche. Their first three albums, dc Talk, Nu Thang, and Free At Last started from their rap/hip-hop roots but increasingly included melodic vocal rock influences. Their 1995 studio album, Jesus Freak, continued this musical evolution by eshewing almost all rap elements and adopting a harder modern rock/grunge sound on many songs, especially the title track. Their most recent studio album, Supernatural, draws on their previous efforts while moving towards mainstream pop stylings.

Their signature sound in all albums is their use of the three members' different vocal skills separately and together. They are often lauded for their lyrical sophistication, addressing many themes in Christian theology, faith, and practice.

After more than ten years together as a group, they are taking a break in recording together to pursue their own activities outside of the band, and launch solo careers in recording music. Michael Tait formed his own band, Tait, and has most recently served as the frontman for Newsboys. Toby McKeehan has released music under the name TobyMac, and has been the most sucessful of the three. Kevin Max has released two solo albums of his own.
