The Air We Breathe Lyrics

Why do you choose - To walk through life so blind
Frozen Hearts - And empty minds
Its everywhere - But we still don't see
And I blame you - And you blame me
And everyday - I slowly lose my mind
And every time - I come up empty
Something else inside me - Starts to die
And I'm left - Alone and angryIt's in the air - That we breathe each day
It's what we call - the American Way
It's in the way - That we treat each other
We segregate - And we fight our brothersWhy are we raised - To pledge allegiance
To a flag - That rapes and bleeds us
And we're all free - Or so we're told
A country with a corrupted soul
And evryday - We chase that dream
With empty eyes - And painted smiles
And everyday - We wait to die
Still no one cares - And I'm just as guiltyIt's in the air - That we breathe each day

It's what we call - the American Way
It's in the way - That we treat each other
We segregate - And we fight our brothersI only see - What they let me see
I only do - What they tell me toNo! - Yeah!
Don't see - Don't speak - Don't feel - Don't thinkCompassion is a myth
The sad truth - Is ignorance is bliss
Cut from a heartless mold
Stand up - Let the truth be toldIt's in the air - That we breathe each day
It's what we call - the American Way
It's in the way - That we treat each other
We segregate - And we fight our brothers

The band's original lineup consisted of Jason Navarro on vocals, Dan Lukacinsky on guitar, Jason Brake on bass, and Stefan Rairigh on drums. This lineup lasted a year until Bill Jennings replaced Rairigh, but he was himself soon replaced by Derek Grant. They recorded the band's first demos The Essential Kevorkian and Green World in 1993 and 1994, both released through their own label Sluggo's Old Skool Records.
