The Green Door - Tolka

Tolka is the main project of Irish artist and musician S. Murphy. The name comes from the river which flows through his hometown on the north side of Dublin. " More needles and cans in the river than fish or flowers " recalls Murphy.

Influenced a lot by 60's and 70's folk and rock , Tolka's sound seems to fall somewhere between the autumnal ambiance of Nick Drake and the mood and drone of The Velvet Underground. This features heavily on the forthcoming debut release, the 6 track EP entitled ' Tears '. (Winter 2009)

On the live front, Tolka have become more of an improvisational group at gigs, comprised of friends from different bands in Helsinki and Dublin playing songs that sometimes they are hearing for the first time. Depending on ones willingness to be spellbound, Tolka may just make the right kind of spells.
