The Hustler Lyrics

I've got something with me
My soul's kinda gritty
Now do I lie or run awayEngine, engine number 9
You get your way
Or I'll get mine
Sure as the sun will shine each dayJust like the apple
Temptress sets in
I win you're tackled
Shackles on my feet won't let me moveNot soft but supple
Come with all you got
My wings won't ruffle
Victory is sweet but I ain't scared to loseIn my house the moon still shines in the day
But there's a lot 'a old bills I gotta pay
In my house feel free to dance like it's May
But there's a lot 'a old bills I gotta payMama can you hear me?
Papa I'm sittin' pretty
Don't have to shun my heart this timeI know when it really matters
It'll be me alone and regrets will be none

Just like the apple, temptress sets in
I win you're tackled
Shackles on my feet won't let me moveNot soft but supple
Come with all you got
My wings won't ruffle
Victory is sweet but I ain't scared to loseIn my house the moon still shines in the day
But there's a lot 'a old bills I gotta pay
In my house feel free to dance like it's May
But there's a lot 'a old bills I gotta payI'll be on my own, it don't matter I'm grown
I won't be singin' no sad song in the lay
And if I rub you wrong, baby, I come on strong
I got no mind to cushion what I sayIn my house the moon still shines in the day
But there's a lot 'a old bills I gotta pay
In my house feel free to dance like it's May
But there's a lot 'a old bills I gotta payIn my house the moon still shines in the day
But there's a lot 'a old bills I gotta pay
In my house feel free to dance like it's May
But there's a lot 'a old bills I gotta payIn my house
(In the day)
In my house
(Won't you stay)In my house
(In my house)
In my house
The room will shine
Shine in the day

Res

They say that it’s a long way to the top if you wanna Rock ‘n’ Roll, and that’s an expression singer/songwriter Res knows all too well. 2001 was the year Res changed the game with How I Do, a cross-genre masterpiece that she co-penned with childhood friend Santi White (now known as Santigold). The album yielded four hit singles – the Nas remixed “Ice King”, the Billboard chart-topping “They Say Vision”, “Golden Boys”, and “Sittin’ Back” – and placed Res in a unique albeit coveted position of soulful songstress with a Hip-Hop edge.
