The Letter Lyrics

Seventeen nights and fourteen days
I spent time in a hollow cave on the lower east sidehe lower east side
A long way back to your front door I stepped inside
And on the floor was a letterust a letter
With my hands all wet I slowly bent
Had this twisted feeling inside my head
I didn tell herhere I was going
I never quite remember why I do the things I do
When I sick and tired or myself
She the kind to sneak inside and twist your mind
You want to take a bite
but then you spit it out spit it out again
On a solitary chair she placed in the corner
If I gather up the strength and get a little bolder
Will I open up? Ie got to open up his letter
Chorus
Free me. It not worth dying for. If I gave a little more would this be fine?
Tell me. What am I trying for?

Youe already slammed the door and left me behind. After counting all the words I felt your pain
But I had to sit down and read it again
To let it sink in. Did it sink in t all?
It hard to hold back this raging desire to light it all up
And sit by the fire and watch it burnut now the tables turn
The only way back to the way it began
Is to take another look and try to understand
See it through your eyesow I realize
Yeaheaheaheah(Chorus)It been seventeen nights and fourteen days that Ie been alone
So I thought I write you a letter
Just a letter

Members : The band includes vocalist/guitarist/band namesake Vaughan Rhea; his brother, Dave Rhea on bass; rhythm guitarist Garret Coleman; lead guitarist Todd Hackenburg; and drummer Jeff Irizarry.

Growing up in rural Tennessee, Vaughan Rhea's music sensibilities were shaped by LPs in his parents' record collection from songwriting heavyweights like James Taylor, Harry Chapin, and Cat Stevens. Deciding that Nashville already had too many wagons without a hitchable star, Rhea instead moved to Orlando, FL, and began playing the pub circuit as an acoustic solo act. But the soaring vocals and guitar-heavy sound of Pearl Jam's Ten made a huge impression on Rhea, and soon he had made the turn toward a more rocking sound. Vaughan and his brother, Dave, assembled a band, began to gig regionally, and were soon supporting such national acts as Third Eye Blind and Seven Mary Three. In 1997, Vonray released its debut, Panes. It was successful, and two years later the band re-released it, this time with four new songs. Producer Brett Hestla noticed the hoopla around the group, both in Orlando and regionally, and brought them in to record four new songs for an EP. The songs were shopped to the majors, and soon Elektra bit. A summer 2002 tour with fellow musical travelers and Floridians Creed followed, and in April 2003 Elektra released the band's self-titled debut. The LP gained valuable exposure when lead single "Inside Out" was included on the soundtrack to the WB Network's Smallville. ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide
