Dj Create had his international debut back in 2000. Together with Dj Whopper & Dj Amato (Host for Swedish radio show P3-Hiphop) Create represented Sweden in the Dj World Championships (DMC) in London. The team was called 4Wheel Drive. 4Wheel Drive didnt place among the top teams in the competition, and shortly after DMC the team broke up. After the break up with 4Wheel Drive Create started to focus more on producing music. During this time (2000) Create & Devastate had met a couple of times. Mainly at live hiphopshows in Copenhagen, and at local gigs in Sweden. But it should not be until 2003 before the duo was formed. The first collaborations between the two, was playing records live together. Create & Devastate spun wax at local spots in Sweden and clubs in Copenhagen. Both Create & Devastate was during the time (and still is) dedicated record collectors. A big amount of their time goes to digging through vinyl crates. The common interest for hiphop, turntablism and wax soon made them try producing music. The difference from playing records live and doing music together was not big, and the collaboration worked well. After a while in the studio the duo had some ill beats and was ready to record. The plan was that the recordings would lead up to a 12inch vinyl release, with 2-3 songs. In the end of 2003 Create & Devastate met up with Maylay Sparks and his fellow US rapper Kenneth Masters at Maylays home in Copenhagen. The rappers picked out a beat that they liked, and three days later the song "Just Get Down" was recorded in a studio I Christiania. The first song for the single was laced. By late spring, early summer 2004, Masta Ace released his critically praised album A Long Hot Summer. In connection with this release he also went on a European tour. The same day he performed live in Copenhagen, the song "The Hitman" was recorded in a studio on Islandsbrygge in central Copenhagen. Masta aces partner, and live sidekick, Stricklin went along to the studio. He liked the production so much that he jumped on the track with Masta Ace. During the first half of 2005 the duo was working on linking up with a record label. The Duo was trying to sign with a label with a good distribution capacity. But this work would stretch out all the way to the summer of 2005. During this summer Create & Devastate finally got the attention of an American label. The label was Threshold Recordings LLC from Santa Monica. Threshold Recordings is owned and controlled by the legendary producer KutMasta Kurt. Kurt who is famous for his remixes provided the project with even more heat when he did a remix of The Hitman. The record was mastered in Los Angeles by David Cheppa, who is known worldwide for his work with groups like: Velvet Underground & White stripes. Create & Devastates debut single went to the pressing plant in December 2005, and was available in stores worldwide in the middle of January 2006. Apple owned ITUNES Musicstore promoted Create & Devastates single worldwide on their website www.apple.com, and through ITUNES. The single The Hitman Got appointed as: Single Of The Week between the dates 28/3 to 4/4 2006. Create & Devastate also belong to a four man strong productionteam from Helsingborg. The name of the team is Elite Fleet. The Hitman single is the teams first international release. The members are: Create, Devastate, Big Ape & Dj Connect. The team is currently working on a number of projects with American artists, but the common goal is to release a album together. Read more on Last.fm.
