The Power Of... Lyrics

And it was the final straw
Though I never knew just what he saw
Never underestimate the power of...
Never underestimate the power of...He could bring me to my knees
Though I never saw just what he sees
I was callin' out for him, he never turned
I was callin' out for him, I never learnedNever ever, never underestimate
The power of...
Never ever, never underestimate
The power of...Saw you walking down the street
Those Velcro sneakers on your feet
You were walking faster than I could run
I was walking in the shade and you, the sunNow we can watch it fall
'Cause they built it up too tall
Now I'm sinking lower than all my tears
Sinking lower than all your fearsNever ever, never underestimate
The power of...
Never ever, never underestimate

The power of...Mmm, mmmBoy, you've got a lot to learn
Wait until it is my turn
And you stand everNever ever, never underestimate
The power of...
Never ever, never underestimate
The power of...Never underestimate
The power of...
Never underestimate
The power of...

The Pierces, sisters Allison and Catherine, are a pair of singer-songwriters based in New York City (by way of Birmingham, Alabama and Nashville).

Former ballerinas turned songstresses, they released their self-titled debut in 2000 with Epic. The album was met with lukewarm reception, but the girls were undeterred. After moving to New York, they released Light Of The Moon with Universal in 2005, with similar luck. After leaving the label and their manager to make some serious changes, they recorded their third album with producer Roger Greenawalt and after having opened a week's worth of shows for Albert Hammond Jr. [Catherine Pierce's fiancee] in November 2006, the girls were greeted with much more enthusiastic reception and excellent press.

Thirteen Tales of Love and Revenge was released in April 2007.

The Pierces recently gained even more press when they were featured on the December 5th episode of the hit TV show, "Gossip Girl".

However, despite Catherine's high-profile celebrity romance with the Strokes guitarist, Albert Hammond Jr., the increased publicity didn't translate into sales.

According to the You'll Be Mine Songfacts, the siblings were on the verge of calling it a day when a friend of theirs, Coldplay bassist Guy Berryman, offered to produce them. The result was The Pierces fourth album, You & I, their first release after signing to Polydor.
