The River Lyrics

The roads are closed
Do you know where you should be?
When the lights are dim
Are you gonna come cryin' to me?
'Cause you're sitting there with your legs crossed
Lookin' so carefree
Do you think you can run away
From your so-called misery?
'Cause you know, the tide ain't rollin' in for you
The tide ain't rollin' in for me
Are you gonna sink, are you gonna swim?
Because I'll take you down to the river
Yes, I'll take you down to the river
In the end, I'll take you down to the river
But you're goin' in, you're goin' in
Now the choice is yours
Are you in or are you gonna back out?
Well this is your life baby

Are you gonna take a look around?
'Cause you seem to think that all
Your chances will chase you down
I'm telling you to open up your eyes
And take those feet off the ground
'Cause you know the tide ain't rollin' in for you
The tide ain't rollin' in for me
Are you gonna sink, are you gonna swim?
Because I'll take you down to the river
Yes, I'll take you down to the river
Don't you know, I'll take you down to the river
But you're goin' in, you're goin' in
Now the roads are closed
Do you know where you should be?
Now the lights are dim
Are you gonna come cryin' to me?
'Cause you know the tide ain't rollin' in for you
The tide ain't rollin' in for me
Are you gonna sink, are you gonna swim?
Because I'll take you down to the river
Yes, I'll take you down to the river
In the end, I'll take you down to the river
'Cause you're goin' in, you're goin' in

Alabama Kids were a band from Eindhoven who were active in the late 80s and early 90s. They released 3 albums between 1990 and 1993 with a strong US psychedelic, stoner-rock influence. DJIE-HAN THUNG: vocals, guitar
ROB GEERINGS: guitar
STEFAN VERMEEREN: guitar
MICHEL BOEKHOUDT: bass
JACCO VAN ROOIJ: drums After the band split in 1993, the rhythm section (Boekhoudt and Van Rooij) started a new band called 35007, who didn't sound too dissimilar to Alabam Kids.
