Tin Pan Valley Lyrics

I come from the tin pan valley and I'm moving right along
I live on former glory, so long ago and gone
I'm turning down the talk shows, the humour and the couch
I'm moving up to higher ground - I've found a new way out
These parasols and barbecues and loungers by the pool
The late night conversations filled with twentieth-century cool
My peers may flirt with cabaret - some fake the rebel yell
Me, I'm moving up to higher ground - I must escape their hell
Let me suspend my thirst for knowledge in your powder, sweat and sighs
A grudge of Christian women - a stain of spotless wives
A perfect destination inside a perfect world
I take the bottle to the baby - you take the hammer to the pearl
Like this - like this --
Every day's like Sunday, down here on memory lane
Salad days and no good ways drive me quite insane
A cocktail-clouded troubadour attempts to speak in tongues
He's said enough - I'm through the door - I'm moving right along

Like this - like this --

Robert Anthony Plant CBE (born 20 August 1948, West Bromwich, Staffordshire, England) is a British rock singer famous for being the lead vocalist of one of the most influential rock bands of all time: Led Zeppelin. He is known for his powerful style with a wide vocal range. After Led Zeppelin's breakup following the sudden death of drummer John Bonham in 1980, Plant pursued a successful solo career. Popular tracks from this period include "Big Log," "Tall Cool One," and "I Believe." In 1984, Plant formed a short-lived all-star group with Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck and Phil Collins called The Honeydrippers, who had a Top Ten hit with a remake of the Phil Phillips' tune, "Sea of Love".

Plant's love of the music of Morocco led him to a new collaboration called Robert Plant And The Strange Sensation. The band's releases met with critical acclaim and numerous Grammy nominations. They completed the 2006 tour of Europe in September.

In 2007, Plant began recording and performing with bluegrass star Alison Krauss. A duet album, Raising Sand, was released on 23 October 2007 on Rounder Records. The album, recorded in Nashville and Los Angeles and produced by T-Bone Burnett met with enormous critical and commercial success.

The year of 2010 proves to be yet another successful year for the aging lemon squeezer. Durring the summer, Plant will be reuniting with his old, Pre-Zep group, The Band Of Joy, for a tour of the southern and mid continental tour of the US.
