Tomorrow Never Comes Lyrics

He sits beside her in the evening
She turns and asks him for a light
He worked so hard so he'd be something
Just what it was she never knew
Just what it was she never knew
He lays beside her as she's sleeping
She asks if everything's alright
Is there a secret, he's been keeping?
She doesn't know anything he says
He doesn't feel anything she says
I've been waiting for too long for love like this
For love like this, let it slip away
I've been waiting for your tender kiss, your tender kiss
She says, "I just might leave tomorrow"
He says, "Tomorrow never comes"
So we'll just learn to love our sorrow
I'll love you tender as you're sleeping
I'll love you bitter through the day

Country Music Hall of Famer Johnny “The Singing Cowboy” Bond (1st of June 1915 - 12th June 1978) and his band the Red River Valley Boys are prime examples from the days when jazz informed “hillbilly” music (or maybe it was the hillbilly informing the jazz). Born Cyrus Whitfield Bond in Enville, Oklahoma, he learned ukelele and guitar headed to Oklahoma City as a teen to play dances and radio shows as a member of the Singing Cowboy Trio and later the Bell Boys.
