Too Early For the Sky Lyrics

I nearly disappeared into the mouth of a crocodile
I nearly touched the rain deep in the heaven on high
I could have been a sad piece of news on the radio
But you remembered me 'cause you know I'm not ready to goOh halala, I'm home, looks like I've made it, oh halalo
Oh halala, oh halala, ngasinda, oh halalo
Oh halala, I'm home, looks like I've made it, oh halalo
Oh halala, oh halala, ngasindaI am too early for the sky
(I'm too early for the sky)
I am too early for the sky
(I'm too early for the sky)I am too early, I am too early
I am too early for the skySomewhere some gray computer nearly closed my file
This could have been the last time I ever saw you smile
The darkest night nearly swallowed up my eyes
But you remembered me 'cause I'm not ready for the skyOh halala, I'm home, looks like I've made it, oh halalo
Oh halala, oh halala, ngasinda, oh halalo
Oh halala, I'm home, looks like I've made it, oh halalo
Oh halala, oh halala, ngasindaI am too early for the sky
(I'm too early for the sky)

I am too early for the sky
(I'm too early for the sky)I am too early, I am too early
I am too early for the skyWenkunkulu wami wangisindisa mina
Wenkunkulu wami wangisindisa mina
Wenkunkulu wami wangisindisa mina
Wenkunkulu wami wangisindisa minaOh halala, oh halala, ngasinda, oh halalo
Oh halala, oh halala, ngasinda, oh halalo
Oh halala, oh halala, ngasinda, oh halalo
Oh halala, oh halala, ngasinda, oh halaloI am too early for the sky
I am too early for the sky
(Wenkunkulu wami wangisindisa mina)
I am too early for the sky
(Wenkunkulu wami wangisindisa mina)
Too early, too early for the skyWenkunkulu wami wangisindisa mina
Wenkunkulu wami wangisindisa mina
Wenkunkulu wami wangisindisa mina
Wenkunkulu wami wangisindisa mina
Wenkunkulu wami wangisindisa mina
Wenkunkulu wami wangisindisa mina

Johnny Clegg's second crossover band Savuka takes its name from the Zulu word for "We have risen". Savuka, like Clegg's first band Juluka before it, mixes African music with Celtic folk music and international rock sounds. They recorded four albums: Third World Child (1987), Shadow Man (1988), Cruel, Crazy, Beautiful World (1989), Heat, Dust & Dreams (1993). The last album was nominated for a US Grammy Award for the best world music album in 1993.

In the United States songs performed by Johnny Clegg have appeared in three well-known feature films: "Scatterlings of Africa" in Rain Main, "Dela" in George of the Jungle, and "Life Is a Magic Thing" in the animated film Ferngully.
