Tough Lyrics

Slowly, she dissolves me
In waves of her, and leaves us blurred,
The flow just enthrals me
I drown in her, she purrs soothing words
Warm rain runs mascara
I laugh and say "My billion dollar-babe!"
She looks at me like I'm her father
Then hesitates and looks awayIt means "Must try harder..."
What d'you wanna go and do this for
Don't you think it's all screwed enough
Givin' out the keys to your core
Now you've really gone and blew that stuff
You looked in her eyes
You never wondered why
And now your heart's gonna die and it's toughConcrete and dry heat
music plays from another age
I'm back in my old street
head over heels and underage

Soft songs fade slowly
In and out like a sense of doubt
The earth shifts below me
And I forget what I was all aboutThis feeling's all through me
What d'you wanna go and do this for
Don't you think it's all screwed enough
Givin' out the keys to your core
Now you've really gone and blew that stuff
You looked in her eyes
You never wondered why
And now your heart's gonna die and it's tough

They released their first album, High Land, Hard Rain, when Frame was aged nineteen. It spawned the hit single Oblivious, and Aztec Camera were recognised as one of the key acts on Glasgow's Postcard record label, along with Orange Juice and Josef K. Frame later signed to Rough Trade. Aztec Camera's biggest hit was 1987's Somewhere In My Heart, which reached number 3 in the UK singles chart and is still a staple of FM radio.
