Under The Thumb Lyrics

You twisted a nerve, you put your hand on your heart and
You said, Hey, don't worry, you're fit woman, that's all that counts
And I ignored all the usual signs, not really knowing quite why
I let you decide, yeahAin't it funny how, I'm finding out now
It makes me laugh, how I let you have your way
And you say I got it now, so I'm asking you, babeDid I ever even cross your mind?
'Cause it's not a game of who is under the thumb
I think you took me for a ride, but I didn't seeI didn't even realize
Whether we were playing games or under the thumb
I think you took me for a ride, what a waste of meA pro at the sweet talk, back into your bedroom again like
A fool I went blindly, as soon as I got the invite, yes
I ignored all the usual signs, swallowed it down with my pride
Let you decide, yeahAin't it funny how, I'm finding out now
It makes me laugh, how I let you have your say
And your way I got it now, so I'm asking you, babeDid I ever even cross your mind?
'Cause it's not a game of who is under the thumb
I think you took me for a ride, but I didn't seeI didn't even realize
Whether we were playing games or under the thumb

I think you took me for a ride, what a waste of me
What a waste of meOh, I thought you were for real, so I kept giving more
Oh, now I want you on your knees, begging on the floorDid I ever even cross your mind?
'Cause it's not a game of who is under the thumb
I think you took me for a ride, but I didn't seeI didn't even realize
Whether we were playing games or under the thumb
I think you took me for a ride, what a waste of meDid I ever even cross your mind?
'Cause it's not a game of who is under the thumb
I think you took me for a ride, but I didn't seeI didn't even realize
Whether we were playing games or under the thumb
I think you took me for a ride, what a waste of me

Tom Baxter is a singer-songwriter based in London. Born in Suffolk, he grew up in Cornwall, with both parents regulars on the folk music circuit. After moving to London at age 19 to attend music college, he spent many years on the gig circuit before a successful residency at Bush Hall in Shepherds Bush brought him to the attention of record labels. A self-titled EP was released in May 2004 containing the tracks Joanna, Half a Man and My Declaration. The latter song was to become the second single from his debut album Feather and Stone, following the single This Boy.
