Voice On My Tv Lyrics

It's a familiar voice
Sometimes I wonder if I have a choice
You give it everything
You're selling God but am I listening?I hear you've seen the light
Your message comes to me by satellite
You say I must believe
I say it's just another way to deceiveIf my salvation has anything to do
With your empty promises and what you think is true
Well here's my donation if it's all the same to youI am the voice on your TV
But I am one and I am free
Always to say what I believe
I know you're only a voice on my TVThe numbers on the screen
Will help me get to heaven, so it would seem
The money flows and flows
And no-one cares enough to know where it goesLook at all the millions that you've taken for a ride
With the warmest words and the coldest heart inside
And how much longer can I listen to your liesI am the voice on your TV
But I am one and I am free

Always to say what I believe
I know you're only a voice on my TVWhat are all the credit card believers gonna say
When they hear about the scandals and the lovers that you pay
And all about the meetings in your secret hideawayI am the voice on your TV
But I am one and I am free
Always to say what I believe
You're just a voice on my TV
Your power's strong but I am free
Always to say what I believeI am the voice on your TV
But I am one and I am free
Always to say what I believe
(Can you hear me?)I am the voice on your TV
But I am one and I am free
Always to say what I believeThis is your conscience speaking

Uriah Heep is a British rock band, officially formed in 1969 in London, England, when record producer Gerry Bron invited keyboardist Ken Hensley (previously a member of The Gods and Toe Fat) to join Spice, members of whom included soon-to-become Heep stalwarts David Byron (vocals) and Mick Box (guitar). The band rapidly grew to become a seminal classic hard rock act of the 1970s and beyond. Their distinctive progressive/art rock/heavy metal fusion has always featured a massive keyboards sound, strong vocal harmonies and (in the early years) David Byron's operatic vocals.

Sometimes jokingly referred to as "The Beach Boys of heavy metal" for their melodic songs, and trademark multi-part harmony backing vocals, although their music draws on diverse influences including psychedelia, gothic sound, progressive rock, hard rock, early heavy metal, jazz, and even country on occasion.

Uriah Heep remains active, its lineup staying steady from 1986 to 2007, when drummer Lee Kerslake left for health reasons, and was replaced by Russell Gilbrook. The current lineup is: Mick Box (guitar, vocals), Trevor Bolder (bass, vocals), Phil Lanzon (keyboards, vocals), Bernie Shaw (lead vocals), and Russell Gilbrook (drums, vocals).
