Wake Up Soon (LP Version) Lyrics

David, ah, you shouldn't do that
And maybe, well as a matter of fact
Gotta have responsibilities
And try your very best to please
The wolves at your backDon't go telling me
That everything must have a reason
Because you're wrong, 'cause you're wrong
'Cause you're wrong, wrong, wrongThere's a whole world out there waiting for you
If you'll just stop dreaming
Wake up soonAnd now Jimmy, oh, come on
Listen to me good
Because life don't come so easy
Who told you that it would?Oh, so many people tell you what to do
And you believe them
That's the trouble with you
Just think for yourselfAnd don't go telling me
That everything must have a reason
Because you're wrong, 'cause you're wrong

'Cause you're wrong, wrong, wrongThere's a whole world out there waiting for you
If you'll just stop dreaming
You better wake up soon
You better just stop dreamingNo, don't go telling me
That everything must have a reason
Because you're wrong, 'cause you're wrong
'Cause you're wrong, wrong, wrongTake your head out of the clouds
Find something to believe in
You gotta wake up soon, boyWell, pretty soon, pretty soon
You've gotta learn your right from wrong
Oh, every day, every night
Well, come on, learn to be strongWell, you're wrong, 'cause you're wrong
'Cause you're wrong, wrong, wrongYou better wake up soon
You better just stop dreamingSo don't go telling me
That everything must have a reason
Because you're wrong, 'cause you're wrong
'Cause you're wrong, wrong, wrongThere's a whole world out there waiting for you
If you'll just stop dreaming
You better wake up soon
You better just stop dreamingNo, don't go telling me
That everything must have a reason
Because you're wrong, 'cause you're wrong
'Cause you're wrong, wrong, wrongTake your head out of the clouds
Find something to believe in
Gotta wake up soon, boy
Wake up soon
Gotta wake up soon, boyYeah, wake up soon
Better wake up soon
Wake up, wake up

Originally a quartet whose sound drew inspiration from psychedelia, the Beloved found its greatest success as a rave-influenced dance-pop duo. Throughout its fluid existence, the guiding force behind the group remained vocalist Jon Marsh, who formed the band Journey Through inCambridge, UK with Steve Waddington and Tim Havard; with the addition of Guy Gausden (November 1984), the group renamed itself the Beloved, and gradually evolved into a moody dance outfit not dissimilar to New Order.
