Walkaway Lyrics

There's a river of tears I need to cry
Been holding back for years
There's a mountain so high I need to climb
To wipe away the fearsSolitude and loneliness
Have been a friend of mine
As I'm turning my back on emptiness
I leave them all behindWho knows
Just where I'm going
Does tomorrow belong to meWalk away, this time with my head up high
Walk away, just me and myself
Walk away with pride, nothing left to hide
But it just feels right to be one and just walk awayI could never forget how hard I tried
When we were, oh, so young
Just one tender moment I cannot find
Well, maybe I had noneStrength will be by my side
Although I feel afraid
But I know it's too late for this goodbye
There's nothing left to sayWho knows

Just where I'm going
Does tomorrow belong to meWalk away this time with my head up high
Walk away, just me and myself
Walk away with pride, nothing left to hide
But it just feels right to be one and just walk away this timeOne day you'll realize
That the tears you saw in my eyes
Will be there foreverWalk away this time with my head up high
Walk away, just me and myself
Walk away with pride, nothing left to hide
But it just feels right to be one and just walk awayAnd just walkaway
And just walkaway
Just walkawayAnd just walkaway
And just walkawayAnd just walkaway

The Shams were an all-female New York folk pop trio in the 1980s and early 1990s, featuring Amy McMahon Rigby, Sue Garner, and Amanda Uprichard. Some critics have credited the band with pioneering elements of what would later become known as the Americana and No Depression movements in American music. Others have described them as "queens of urban folkdom" or "riot grrrls unplugged." Punk rock musician Richard Hell has labeled their music "beauty parlor soul."
