Washington Square Lyrics

I'm writing a letter to say I still care
And I wish you would hear it's Christmas
And it's way past the ???
I'm saying a prayer
I can picture you here last Christmas
I know you're so far from home
But you know that you're never alone
I know you're so far away
Till you're home safe again I'll just pray
Oh, it's Christmas again
But it won't be without you
Oh, it's Christmas again
I'm so lonely without you
I'm turning my collar to the cold and the wind
Till you're home safe again
And it's Christmas
We're saving your present, it's under the tree

When you're with me, you'll see
It's Christmas
I know you're so far away
But you know that I still feel the same
I know you're so far from home
But no matter how far, you're never alone
Oh, it's Christmas again
But it won't be without you
Oh, it's Christmas again
I'm so lonely without you
I'm so lonely without you
I'm so lonely without you

Pop-jazz singer Marilyn Maye began performing in the Kansas City jazz scene before she made her first national appearance on "The Steve Allen Show." That led to a recording contract with RCA in the 1960s that resulted in seven albums, including "Meet Marvelous Marilyn Maye," 'The Lamp Is Low" and "A Taste of Sherry!" She did well on the adult contemporary charts, reaching the top 10 with "Cabaret" (1966) and the following year's "Sherry" and "Step to the Rear." Maye became an in-demand nightclub and cabaret performer. She also was a favorite of Johnny Carson and appeared 76 times on "The Tonight Show" through 1979. In recent years, Maye has cut a series of CDs for her own label and still makes regular appearances in cabarets and concert halls around the country. Read more on Last.fm.
