Weeping Statues Lyrics

Weeping statues, Elvis sightings
Visitations, man struck by lightning
Everyday someone gets a sign
It rips apart the fabric of their daily livesIs it fear of flying
That keeps us rooted to the ground?
Everyone is dying to stay
Trapped and gagged and boundThe blind girl saw it, the deaf man heard it
The cripple stood up and walked towards it
The handless man wrote it down to report itThe moron changed the words around to distort it
Ahh, his hand was steady and his mind was clear to think
But it came out in black and white, written in invisible inkWeeping statues, Elvis sightings
Stained glass window, man struck by lightning
Every minute someone loses control
And sees things how they really areAnd not how they're told but statues only weep for some
And Elvis just shows up when he's hungry
Lightning strikes at everyone
But only hits the very luckyWeeping statues, weeping, weeping
Elvis sightings, Elvis sightings, yeah

Everyday, everyday, everyday, everyday
Everyday, everyday, everyday, everydayOhh, ohh, ohh
Ohh, ohh, ohh
Ohh, ohh, ohhWeeping statues

He continues to be best-known as the leader (and singer) of the popular British band Graham Parker & The Rumour, though he has has a number of solo albums to his name. Despite moderate commercial success, he has consistently been hailed by critics as one the most prominent musicians of his generation, with his wittily-heated, often class-conscious lyrics and energy-fueled music preceding the arrival punk rock and new wave music.
