Well You Needn't Lyrics

You're talkin' so sweet well you needn't
You say you won't cheat well you needn't
You're tappin' your feet well you needn't
It's over now, it's over now
You're dressin' with class well you needn't
You're holdin' your sass well you needn't
You think you're a gas well you needn't
It's over now, it's over now
It's over now, it's over now
You've had your fun, so take a bow
You oughta know, you lost the glow, the beat is slow, the shadows grow,
the lights are low, it's time to go, let's close the show down
(Oh) You're taking off weight well you needn't
You're looking just great well you needn't
You're settin' the bait well you needn't
It's over now, it's over now
(repeat all then...)

It's over now, it's over now
It's over now, it's over now
It's over now, it's over!

Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis and Johnny Griffin, two tenor stars of the '50's and '60's teamed up for several recording sessions that offer a great contrast in tenor saxophone styles, and more importantly, lots of hard swinging blowing sessions.

Lockjaw's career predates the '50's; he can be found partnering with bop luminary Fats Navarro on a date for Savoy Records in the late '40's. His style could be called a mixture of the older style of swing tenor, like Ben Webster, with lots of elements of the next style, BeBop. An unusual technique, and fast fingerings are a signature of the artist's work.

Griffin debuted in the '50's and is a Bop stylist all the way, featuring a blisteringly fast technique, and a wailing, plaintive tone. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
