When In Rome Lyrics

Well, you must be from the city
'Cause you sure ain't from round here
There ain't no smoke free section
We don't sell no import beerYou been throwin' round that attitude
Since you walked through the door
I don't know where you come from
But you ain't there anymoreWhen in Rome
You can do like the Romans
But where you're down home
You better do like usYou've been lookin' down your nose
At our water tower town
Ain't no one gettin' rich
But there's enough to go aroundIf you don't like Tracy's cookin'
Well, you best still leave a tip
She's back there in that kitchen
With a baby on her hipWhen in Rome
You can do like the Romans
But where you're down home

You better do like usYou put your best foot forward
When you go to meet a man
Look him in the eye
And put a good grip on his handDon't cuss around the ladies
Tell us how to raise our kids
We like doin' business
Like our daddy's daddies did, alrightWhen you drive off in your beamer
If you don't do 35
Don't give no lip to Buford
Or he might just dot your eyeAnd when your at the courthouse
Before ol' Judge McCall
You'd best not say a word 'bout
Ten Commandments on his wall, nawWhen in Rome
You can do like the Romans
But where you're down home
You better do like usWhen in Rome
You can do like the Romans
But where you're down home
You better do like usYou better do like us, boy
Don't you comin' here talkin' all that trash
You might get your nose smashedYeah, when in Rome
You can do like the Romans
YeahYou better do like us
You better do like us
You better do like us

James Travis Tritt (born February 9, 1963) is an American country music singer. He now resides in Hiram, Georgia off Travis Tritt Highway.

Tritt was born in Marietta, Georgia to James and Gwen Tritt. At age 3, he received his first guitar from his father. By 22, he had been through two divorces and had committed himself entirely to his music career. He has been a member of the Grand Ole Opry since 1992. Today, he and wife Theresa have three children: Tyler Reese (born February 18, 1998), Tristan James (born June 16, 1999) and Terian Nathaniel (born November 20, 2003).

His breakthrough came with his first album, Country Club, from which three singles were released, as well as his first No. 1 hit with "Help Me Hold On". His second album, It's All About To Change, produced two top 3 hits including: "Anymore", "The Whiskey Ain't Workin'", and "Here's A Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares)". The song "Bible Belt" was used in the movie, My Cousin Vinny, and, for which, he composed alternate lyrics exclusively for the use of the film.

Tritt has released a trilogy of music videos describing the tale of two paralyzed war veterans: Mac Singleton and his friend Al. In the video for "Tell Me I was Dreaming", Tritt plays Singleton, a wheelchair bound veteran who tries to rescue his pregnant wife Annie from slipping off a boat, subsequently hitting her head on the side of the dock. She dies, but their baby, Annie, survives. The third video shows what happened with Singleton and his daughter after the second video.

Tritt's latest album, My Honky Tonk History, showcases a wide range of styles, from love ballads to energetic footstompers.
