Deedub blends influences from rock and hip hop to create his music. Deedub’s rhyme patterns are inspired by artists such as The Beastie Boys, Nas, and Tupac. His lyrical content draws from artists like The Beatles, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Deedub mixes influences with his own poetic flavor to create an original style. He calls it alternative hip hop.

Before Deedub created alternative hip hop he was preparing for his destiny. Deedub a.k.a. David Woods is a born performer. Since his early years he has been singing and dancing in front of cameras. He always loved entertaining. David also loved writing songs and poetry as a child. One of the first poems he wrote won an award in a national competition during his 6th grade year. During his time at Temecula Valley High School his passion for poetry mixed with his passion for performing and he became a natural MC. He would freestyle at parties and people were amazed at his talent. His high school friends gave him the nickname Deedub after his initials D. W. and the name has stuck ever since.

Now that David had become Deedub it was time to go off to college so he packed up a few things and moved to Long Beach. During his stay in the Cal State Long Beach dorms he met fellow hip hop lovers from San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles, Compton, and Long Beach. The group would share written rhymes and perform freestyle sessions every Thursday night while Deedub provided the instrumentals as the resident DJ/MC. The MCs called themselves P. B. C. (People Becoming Conscious) which Deedub still reps to the fullest. After years of writing rhymes and freestyling Deedub entered the studio ready to record songs. His first songs were well received and it was clear he possessed something special. This motivated Deedub to record as often as possible and music became the soul focus of his life. After graduating Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa, Deedub went to work for a corporation but often suffered anxiety attacks on the way to work. Listening to his higher guidance he knew he had to make music his full time job to get on his true path. This prompted him to stop working corporate and go on the independent grind releasing albums and performing live shows. He had been selling kush for a few years and figured he could live off the income while building his music career. Seemed like a simple enough plan at the time.

Deedub experienced hard work like he had never before known while beginning to live his dream. Starting his own business Adamantine Entertainment and releasing his albums The New Age of Enlightenment Vol. 1-3 (2008-2009) proved to be a great learning experience. The hard work paid off. Soon Deedub had created a following of thousands online and performed live shows every week from Hollywood to San Diego. People were beginning to recognize his skill as an emerging California artist. His dream was rapidly becoming a reality. Since then Deedub has been grinding and developing his music constantly while expanding his goals. He released a handful of mixtapes to keep his fans satisfied while preparing for the Organic (2012) album release. As a true artist he is always evolving and exploring new dimensions of music.

Deedub has won Hip Hop Artist of the Year 2011 presented by the 21st Annual Los Angeles Music Awards. He is nominated for more awards at the 2012 LAMA event including Best Video for “Freedom of Mind”. He won Best Hip Hop/Rap Artist 2012 presented by the international Artists In Music Awards. His song “Fly High” was nominated for 2011 Best Hip Hop/Rap Song by the Hollywood Music in Media Awards. His song “Shaman Temple” is currently nominated by the Eco-Arts Awards in the song writing category. He is receiving high praise from music critics for his Organic album which is now available at DeedubRecords.com and soon to be on iTunes. Reverbnation ranks him #3 regionally and #15 globally for all hip hop artists. People are talking about Deedub in the streets of California and he has created a tremendous buzz online with over 625,000 fans and over one million YouTube views. People are connecting with Deedub in a major way. He is focused on bringing alternative hip hop further into the mainstream in 2012 and beyond.

Deedub is still David, a humble person who is thankful for every fan he connects with and the energy they share.
