Winning Lyrics

What good would it do
To keep this finger pointed
I break myself in two
And spill around the jointPicture me as two
A smile and a frown together
The greater then is you
To put this to an endAnd lead us over once again, yeah
And lead us over once again
Every lie with diamonds in our eyes
Every lie, a burden full of prideI know you think you're winning
I was just beginning, so
Take your simple living
And your trouble giving, goAnd now this numbing cold
Leaves my fingers hurting
And struggles in my soul
To remember what to sayAnd lead us over once again, yeah
And lead us over once again
And we lie to protect our precious pride

And we lie just because we lieI know you think you're winning
I was just beginning, so
Take your simple living
And your trouble giving, goI know you think you're winning
I was just beginning, so
Take your simple living
And your trouble giving, go, go, goI said, "I know you think you're winning"
Know you think you're winning
I know you think you're winning
And I was just beginning

Virgos Merlot was a hard rock band formed in 1998. Their singular album, Signs of a Vacant Soul, was released in 1999, and featured densely-produced atmospheric guitars, a heavy rhythm presence, and the commanding vocals of lead singer Brett Hestla. Perhaps due to lackluster sales and its lukewarm critical reception, the original lineup disbanded sometime after the release of Signs of a Vacant Soul. The band later reformed for a short while without guitarist Jason Marchant.
