Word 2 the Father Lyrics

Ahh yeah, yeah
Here we go, yo
Kick it, T
Yo man, is in the house, yeah boy
DC's in the house, ahh yeah
K Max's in the house
[Incomprehensible]
Oh definantyWord 2 the father
Word 2 the father
Word 2 the father
Word 2 the fatherWe're here to say word 2 the father up in Heaven
A shout out loud from me, Mike, and Kevin
Some may wonder what we're talkin' about
When word is heard it's like a church that shouts, "Amen"
It breaks down to approval
Those in the pews may find it unusual
We're here to get them to loosen their collars
And use this to say word 2 the fatherWord, say word 2 the father

Above any other, say word to the father
Pump, pump, pump, pump it up
Word, say word 2 the father
Above any other, say word to the father
Pump, pump, pump, pump it upIt's like that y'all, that y'all, that y'all, that y'all
[Incomprehensible] is like that y'all
It's like that y'all, that y'all, that y'all, that y'all
[Incomprehensible] is like that y'allOnce again we're here to drop some science
Standin' up tall in the land of giants
Steadily keepin' our message intact
And the truth is, it's a matter of fact
That this goes out to the one we look to
Hopin' that the message in our jam would hook you
Up in a hurry so that you could be locked in
This is a bond that you oughtta take stock inThis is a shout out to heaven
From Toby, Mike and Kevin
Straight up propers to the papa
And can't nobody stop us
'Cause we'll do this, like Brutus
We told you we ain't new to this
So jump on it like a hornet
And we got no other word thanWord, say word 2 the father
Above any other, say word to the father
Pump, pump, pump, pump it up
Word, say word 2 the father
Above any other, say word to the father
Pump, pump, pump, pump it upWhen DC talks, he works like this
I luv rap music, can I get a witness?
He's doin' nothing so the children can live
Without the things of this world that only he can give
We need to talk it out, stop spinnin' around
So let's take it to the Lord if we're Heaven bound
Ya see time is tickin' away so we gotta come harder
We're tearin' down walls with a word 2 the fatherGod is always workin', workin'
Hallelujah
God is always workin', workin'
HallelujahWord, say word 2 the father
Above any other, say word to the father
Word, say word 2 the father
Above any other, say word to the fatherWord, say word 2 the father
Above any other, say word to the father
Pump, pump, pump, pump it up
Word, say word 2 the father
Above any other, say word to the father
Pump, pump, pump, pump it upWord 2 the father
Word 2 the father up above
Singing word 2 the father
Word 2 the father up aboveI give my life to you
In everything I do
These words I sing to you
This love I know will never endIt's a trip
It's got a funky beat
And I can bug out to it

dc Talk is made up of Toby McKeehan (TobyMac), Michael Tait, and Kevin Max.

The three met while they were young men at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. They formed the band dc Talk (a reference to Washington D.C., but later marketed as 'decent Christian talk' by their label) and, as of the year 2000, spent twelve solid years together, performing all over the world, recording 6 albums, and earning many awards, including 4 Grammy awards.

Their music, aimed at a younger audience, combined hip-hop, rap, and R&B sensibilities and filled a gap in 1980s Christian Music and gave them a unique niche. Their first three albums, dc Talk, Nu Thang, and Free At Last started from their rap/hip-hop roots but increasingly included melodic vocal rock influences. Their 1995 studio album, Jesus Freak, continued this musical evolution by eshewing almost all rap elements and adopting a harder modern rock/grunge sound on many songs, especially the title track. Their most recent studio album, Supernatural, draws on their previous efforts while moving towards mainstream pop stylings.

Their signature sound in all albums is their use of the three members' different vocal skills separately and together. They are often lauded for their lyrical sophistication, addressing many themes in Christian theology, faith, and practice.

After more than ten years together as a group, they are taking a break in recording together to pursue their own activities outside of the band, and launch solo careers in recording music. Michael Tait formed his own band, Tait, and has most recently served as the frontman for Newsboys. Toby McKeehan has released music under the name TobyMac, and has been the most sucessful of the three. Kevin Max has released two solo albums of his own.
