You Can't Take It Back Lyrics

There she was just seventeen
Cryin' on the mornin' after
He told her everything she wanted to hearAll those drunken reasons that she had
For givin' in don't matter
And they don't stop the tears, noWhat do you do when it's too late?
What do you say when you
Can't change the truth of what you've done
And it's coming at you fast? When you can't hide the hurt inside
How do you pray to make it right
When you wanna change the past
And you can't take it back?
You can't take it backScared to death, she tells her friend
To meet her at the drugstore counter
And finds out what she didn't wanna hear
Daddy will die, her mamma will cry
The kids at school will talk about her
There ain't no easy way outta here, ohWhat do you do when it's too late?
What do you say when you

Can't change the truth of what you've done
And it's coming at you fast? When you can't hide the hurt inside
How do you pray to make it right
When you wanna change the past
And you can't take it back?
You can't take it backAll the choices that she's made
That baby staring back at her
Is one she wouldn't changeWhat do you do when it's too late?
What do you say when you
Can't change the truth of what you've done
And it's coming at you fast? When you can't hide the hurt inside
How do you pray to make it right
When you wanna change the past
And you can't take it back?
You can't take it backWhat do you do when it's too late?
What do you say when you
Can't change the truth of what you've done
And it's coming at you fast? When you can't hide the hurt inside
How do you pray to make it right
When you wanna change the past
And you can't take it back?
You can't take it backSometimes it ain't so bad
