You Don't Need Me Lyrics

I heard them saying, you don't want me
You don't need me, not anymore
I heard them saying, you don't love me
You don't care for me, not anymoreLook at all those things I have beared for you
Look at all those trouble, you make me feel
Now you have gone and have left me
But you'll never get away, yeah, you'll never get awayI heard them saying, you left me stranded
You left me all alone in misery
I heard them saying, you don't love me
You don't care for me, not anymoreThe road of life is so rocky
And someday you might fall back on me
I will forgive you, I know that I will
But you'll never get away, yeah, someone will make you payThe road of life is so rocky
And someday you might fall back on me
I will forgive you, I know that I will
But you'll never get away, yeah, you'll never get awayI heard them saying, you don't want me
You don't need me, not anymore
I heard them saying, you don't love me

You don't care for me, not anymoreI heard them saying, you left me stranded
You left me all alone, in misery

The Melodians are considered one of the greatest of the original rocksteady bands from Jamaica. They consist of Trevor McNaughton, Tony Brevett, Brent Dowe, and Renford Cogle and were formed in 1963. Brent Dowe and Trevor McNaughton wrote the song "Rivers Of Babylon" which is based on Psalm 137:1. The song became famous after being featured on the soundtrack for the movie, The Harder They Come. It has been covered many times most famously by Boney M. in 78, but also by Sublime in the 90's.
