Zero Lyrics

The sun was just an open wound
A bleeding from the sky
As the people gathered round me
Watched as I lay dying
They gape with such confusion
At the smile upon my face
Holes right through my side
And all the lives I saved
If I could die a hero
If I could die a hero
No one would remember
The retched life I leave
I wouldn’t mind dying
Just to sum it up and call it a deed
Lying on the sidewalk
Bleeding like a hero bleeds

Six o’clock on the evening news
It’s time to tell the truth
A cause for admiration flashed
To fifty million rooms
To families all blessing me
For my courageous deed
My debts are all resolved
And my spirit finally free
If I could die a hero
If I could die a hero
No one would remember
The retched life I leave
I wouldn’t mind dying
Just to sum it up and call it a deed
Lying on the sidewalk
Bleeding like a hero bleeds
Up on the strait horse
And as I lay my body out
Like a begger on a cross
Ain’t got no disciples
The only friends I’ve lost
But as they try to circle round
My body with white paint
I might even fool myself
To thinking I’m a saint
I wouldn’t mind dying
Just to sum it up and call it a deed
Lying on the sidewalk
Bleeding like a hero bleeds
I wouldn’t mind dying
Just to sum it up and call it a deed
Lying on the sidewalk
Bleeding like a hero bleeds

The Figments started going steady after being set up on a blind date. Twelve years later, they are still advocates of the "open marriage" model. In autumn of '95, through an avalanche of happenstance, the four Figments found themselves in the same room for the first time. Looking around at the potluck of carnage (tupperwear, stuntmen, lesson plans, expensive lampshades, baconhearts, etc etc) they had no choice but count it off slowly. And repeatedly. Welcome to Northampton, MA.
