id Software is not an artist, but a computer game development company, famous for its contributions to the FPS (first-person shooters) genre (i.e. the first game in the genre - Wolfenstein, the Doom and Quake series etc.). Their high quality work also includes soundtracks for their games, which can be downloaded legally.
