vanity Lyrics

Verse 1
Now I hear they say its quiet before the storm
And it would be over, before you know it
There I can see a ray of light through the dark
So imma keep reaching and pushing no matter how far
If I had to choose one day to die, it would be never
Because I wanna live forever
A wise man once said everything is vanity
Said u can have everything, I just want immortality
We gotta get there (get there)
And I know that times are rough
We gotta get there (get there)
And I promise u I will never give up
We gotta get there (get there)
And there's nothing stronger than love
We gotta get there (get there)
If u fall I'll be there to pick u up
Chorus

Hold on and don't let go
Soon it will be over (soon it will be over)
Gotta be strong don't u fall
You can stand on my shoulders
You're my brother (and)
And we need each other (and I)
I just wanna live forever
And I know we can get there together
Verse 2
And now they say
The greatest man to ever walk the earth
Was barely accepted
Even by his own people rejected
So who are you and I
if we don't receive the same (can u tell me)
Tell me what's in a name (can u tell me)
What's in fortune and fame
I don't wanna go to heaven and I don't wanna die
I wanna live on earth forever
So I can tell my family I love them every night
See I can win a couple of grammy's and go platinum
But tell me when u gotta go does it really even matter
We gotta get there cause everything else is vanity
We gotta get there everything else is vanity
We gotta get there cause everything else is vanity
We gotta get there everything else is vanity
Chorus (2x)
Hold on and don't let go
Soon it will be over (soon it will be over)
Gotta be strong don't u fall
You can stand on my shoulders
You're my brother (and)
And we need each other (and I)
I just wanna live forever
And I know we can get there together

Harry Partch (June 24, 1901 – September 3, 1974) was an American composer. He was one of the first twentieth-century composers to work extensively and systematically with microtonal scales, writing much of his music for instruments he built himself, tuned in 11-limit just intonation.
Interested in the potential musicality of speech, Partch worked out his first extended scales to notate the inflections of the speaking voice. He built his adapted viola to demonstrate the concept. He then secured a grant, which allowed him to go to London to study the history of tuning systems.
