The Pioneers

The Pioneers

The Pioneers were a Jamaican reggae band formed in the late 1960s, known internationally for songs such as "Long Shot Kick de Bucket" and "Starvation". They had a strong following among British skinheads. Their cover of Jimmy Cliff's "Let Your Yeah Be Yeah" reached number five in the U.K. charts in 1971. They split up in the mid-1980s to do solo work, but still get together. They also performed and recorded under the names: The Slickers, The Soulmates, The Soul Directions, and The Reggae Boys.
